Janine K. Grand-Wilewski, R.N.,
Owner/Director
As the Principal of Grand Health Academy and a Registered Nurse, Janine's passion for excellence is evident in her creation of a successful and effective health care school.
Janine has good knowledge of the many different dimensions and facets of professional nursing principles and methods. Janine's previous experience as a Charge Nurse, Acting Director of Care, Public Health Nurse and Educator has enabled Janine to blend her belief in old-fashioned nursing philosophies with the modern technology that has changed the health care profession in recent years.
Janine is aware of the intricacies of the Ontario Health Care System, both at the provincial and federal levels. Janine keeps up to date on the ever-changing health care field via newsletters, workshops and additional courses. Janine works within the guidelines of the Ministry of Education and understands the need to train and develop exceptionally skilled Personal Support Workers, our caregivers of the future!
Janine is a dedicated, conscientious person who, despite her busy schedule, takes the time to guide and support all students. Janine is on a first name basis with students and prefers the informal, yet professional, atmosphere prevalent at her school.

Ruth Marshall
Administrative Assistant.
Ruth brings over thirty years of secretarial experience to Grand
Health Academy. Her patience, kindness and personable manner are
appreciated by all. Ruth feels that returning to school is a major
event in an individual’s life and, therefore, makes sure each student
is given the time to ask as many questions as they may need so that
they are able to make intelligent and informed decisions.
Ruth is
very accessible and maintains an open door policy. Students are made
to feel welcome should they have a question regarding the clinical
placement dates, a question regarding their police clearance or
anything at all pertaining to their well being (both personal or
otherwise) as a student at Grand Health Academy.
Ruth enjoys working at Grand Health Academy and plays a vital role
in providing support and encouragement to those who wish to change
their career path.
Judy Burroughs,
Secretary.
Born and raised in the Hamilton area and the eldest daughter of eight children, Judy is married with three sons.
Her career spans mostly around the communications industry. From a dispatcher, a telecommunications supervisor to customer service and administrative assistant, Judy has spent a good part of her life surrounded by people and voices.
She assisted her husband with their own computer oriented business for a few years and also dabbled a little with computer graphics and web design creating a few web pages.
Judy went back to school and received her Floral Designers Certificate and specialized in silk design. She worked in the floral industry for a while and still designs part-time for friends, family and associates.
Judy likes to think of herself as a ‘people person’ and enjoys meeting and talking to people from all walks of life which has made her job as secretary at Grand Health Academy on Concession Street a very pleasurable experience.
Linda Brooks,
RPN, Clinical Supervisor
Linda started her nursing career in 1972. Linda’s all-time dream was to teach and in 1993, her dream became a reality when she began instructing students at Grand Health Academy.
Linda’s busy life includes keeping up with her husband to whom she has been married for 31 years, fostering children in need and spoiling her two adorable grandchildren.
Linda has worked in long term care facilities, retirement homes and hospitals as well as working as a nurse for a two physician practice. Her exceptional interpersonal skills and dedication to the health care field is evident in Linda’s teaching methods as her students enter the work force with good knowledge and a professional attitude. Linda finds great satisfaction in providing support for her students and helping them to achieve their goals.
Well respected by her colleagues and students, Linda is very vocal that the elderly and those in need, regardless of age, be given the opportunity to experience life in a positive, respectful and fulfilling manner.
Marylyn Lungul,
R.P.N.
Marylyn has over seventeen years of health care experience to her credit and is qualified to educate and train our students to become competent, caring and professional caregivers. Marylyn continues to be proud of the students who have entered the course, studied hard and emerged with confidence in their accomplishments. Continuous encouragement and support of all students is a belief held by all educators, especially Marylyn. She lets the students know right from the very beginning that she is there for them at any time and is very proud that Grand Health Academy graduates become an essential part of the health care team.
Diane Mills, RN.,
Clinical Instructor
Diane graduated Mohawk College, 1982. Nursing experience has included working in Neurology at St. Joseph’s Hospital, the Pediatric Step-down Unit and Nuclear Medicine at McMaster Hospital. Diane has taught palliative care for Mohawk College and specialized in palliative care for infants. As well, Diane has set up laser eye clinics across North America. Diane now enjoys working in long term care and teaching adult students and looks forward to a long and rewarding career with Grand Health Academy.
RuthAnne Hockin, RN,
Classroom Instructor
RuthAnne is a mother of two and a grandmother of one. She went back to school later in life and graduated as a Registered Nurse in 1995.
RuthAnne’s experiences include medical and surgical care, labour and delivery care as well as community nursing. She has enjoyed continuing education in her own life on an on-going basis, updating her nursing knowledge and skills. Her love of education is demonstrated in the classroom with her students.
RuthAnne has enjoyed teaching theory to Grand Health Academy students for the past three years.
Krista Vandeweerd, RN,
Classroom Instructor
Krista comes with twenty years of experience in the geriatric field, and over ten years of nursing education and health care administration.
As Director of Care in several Long Term Care facilities she was responsible for personnel selection, orientation, training and evaluation. She developed and implemented procedures and programs to provide a high standard of resident care. She is aware of the skill, professional attitude and care quality employers are looking for and what is needed for students to be successful health care providers.
Krista’s strong interpersonal skills and her ability to communicate with students from different walks of life and backgrounds brings a confidence to students that their goals can be achieved. She finds great satisfaction and is committed to seeing her students succeed and become an important part of the health care team.
