Janine K. Grand-Wilewski, R.N.,
Owner/Director

As the Principal of Grand Health Academy and a Registered Nurse, Janine's passion for excellence is evident in her creation of a successful and effective health care school.

Janine has good knowledge of the many different dimensions and facets of professional nursing principles and methods. Janine's previous experience as a Charge Nurse, Acting Director of Care, Public Health Nurse and Educator has enabled Janine to blend her belief in old-fashioned nursing philosophies with the modern technology that has changed the health care profession in recent years.

Janine is aware of the intricacies of the Ontario Health Care System, both at the provincial and federal levels. Janine keeps up to date on the ever-changing health care field via newsletters, workshops and additional courses. Janine works within the guidelines of the Ministry of Education and understands the need to train and develop exceptionally skilled Personal Support Workers, our caregivers of the future!

Janine is a dedicated, conscientious person who, despite her busy schedule, takes the time to guide and support all students. Janine is on a first name basis with students and prefers the informal, yet professional, atmosphere prevalent at her school.

Janine is proud of the students that have graduated from Grand Health Academy.

Ruth Marshall
Administrative Assistant.

Ruth brings over thirty years of secretarial experience to Grand Health Academy. Her patience, kindness and personable manner are appreciated by all. Ruth feels that returning to school is a major event in an individual’s life and, therefore, makes sure each student is given the time to ask as many questions as they may need so that they are able to make intelligent and informed decisions.

Ruth is very accessible and maintains an open door policy. Students are made to feel welcome should they have a question regarding the clinical placement dates, a question regarding their police clearance or anything at all pertaining to their well being (both personal or otherwise) as a student at Grand Health Academy.
Ruth enjoys working at Grand Health Academy and plays a vital role in providing support and encouragement to those who wish to change their career path.

Judy Burroughs,
Secretary.

Born and raised in the Hamilton area and the eldest daughter of eight children, Judy is married with three sons.

Her career spans mostly around the communications industry. From a dispatcher, a telecommunications supervisor to customer service and administrative assistant, Judy has spent a good part of her life surrounded by people and voices.

She assisted her husband with their own computer oriented business for a few years and also dabbled a little with computer graphics and web design creating a few web pages.

Judy went back to school and received her Floral Designers Certificate and specialized in silk design. She worked in the floral industry for a while and still designs part-time for friends, family and associates.

Judy likes to think of herself as a ‘people person’ and enjoys meeting and talking to people from all walks of life which has made her job as secretary at Grand Health Academy on Concession Street a very pleasurable experience.

Linda Brooks,
RPN, Clinical Supervisor

Linda started her nursing career in 1972. Linda’s all-time dream was to teach and in 1993, her dream became a reality when she began instructing students at Grand Health Academy.

Linda has worked in long term care facilities, retirement homes and hospitals as well as working as a nurse for a two physician practice. Her exceptional interpersonal skills and dedication to the health care field is evident in Linda’s teaching methods as her students enter the work force with good knowledge and a professional attitude. Linda finds great satisfaction in providing support for her students and helping them to achieve their goals.
